IZI acquires Cook Medical's spine assets — 5 takeaways

IZI Medical Products acquired Cook Medical's vertebroplasty product portfolio.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. The products are marketed under Duro-Jectm Osteo Site, Osteo-Force and Vertefix brands.

 

2. Products in the portfolio treat vertebral compression fractures through a minimally invasive approach.

 

3. IZI will partner with neuro-interventional radiologist Kieran J. Murphy, MD, of the University of Toronto as part of the acquisition.

 

4. IZI is Shore Capital Partners' interventional products platform.

 

5. Michael Shaffer will serve as chief financial officer of IZI.

 

IZI Medical CEO Greg Groenke said, "Cook has done an excellent job establishing these products as reliable, high-quality solutions for treating vertebral compression fractures and we have enjoyed working with them on this transaction."
