Mazor Robotics, Medtronic continue to push Mazor X commercialization: 5 things to know

Caesarea, Israel-based Mazor Robotics has teamed up with Dublin, Ireland-based Medtronic to co-market and promote the Mazor X, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Mazor X expands on the company's robotic guidance technology to include analytical tools, multiple-source data, precision guidance, optical tracking, intra-op verification and connectivity technologies.

 

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Orlando, Fla.-based Mazor Robotics, Mazor's U.S. subsidiary, is committed to training surgeons in Mazor X skills.

 

2. Celebration-based The Florida Hospital Nicholson Center serves as a training center for Mazor X, training more than 100 surgeons from across the country in 2016.

 

3. Mazor entered into a strategic partnership with Medtronic in May 2016, with a combined focus on Mazor X commercialization.

 

4. As part of its $20 million investment in Mazor Robotics, Medtronic placed a purchase order for 15 Mazor X systems in August 2016.

 

5. Mazor launched the Mazor X at the North American Spine Society annual meeting in Boston, held from Oct. 26 to 29, 2016.
