Lakeway Regional Medical Center now a CarboClear Pedicle Screw System study site: 5 observations

Spinal Tech

Lakeway (Texas) Regional Medical Center has been initiated as an IDE Clinical Study site for the CarboClear Pedicle Screw System.

Here are five observations:

1. Carl Lauryssen, MD, a spine surgeon with Austin-based NeuroTexas, is the principal investigator of the study at LRMC.

2. The CarboClear Pedicle Screw System is intended to provide rigid immobilization and stabilization of lumbar and/or sacral segments as an adjunct to fusion in patients with degenerative disc disease at one level from L2 to S1, with up to Grade I spondylolisthesis.

3. It is composed of pedicle screws, rods and locking elements. The components are made from carbon fiber-reinforced polymer.

4. LRMC is one of a select number of centers worldwide participating in the study, and it will enroll up to 15 of the total 55 patients.

5. The study will take place over the next 36 months.
