Surgeons implant 1k+ Aurora Spine MIS spinal fusion devices — 5 observations

Spinal Tech

Surgeons have implanted more than 1,000 of Aurora Spine's ZIP MIS Interspinous Fusion Devices in patients, globally. The company is based in Carlsbad, Calif.

Here are five observations:

1. Aurora Spine developed the ZIP implant as an alternative to pedicle screw fixation in spinal fusion procedures.

2. Designed for stabilization and load sharing in T1 to S1 spinal fusion operations, the ZIP implant helps treat degenerative disc disease, spondyloisthesis, trauma and tumors.

3. The ZIP ONE-STEP locking mechanism replaces the need for a set screw.

4. So far, surgeons have implanted the device in patients in the United States, Canada, Europe and the Middle East.

5. The entire ZIP product family includes ZIP ULTRA, ZIP LP low profile and ZIP 51 sacral implant.

"The ZIP implant is rapidly becoming the new standard of care for minimally invasive posterior fusion," said Trent Northcutt, Aurora Spine's president and CEO.
