Invuity introduces new illuminated retractor system: 5 things to know

Spinal Tech

Invuity introduced the Eikon LT illuminated retractor system, designed to improve intra-cavity illumination and visualization.

Here are five things to know:

1. The technology can be used during minimally invasive and open surgeries for breast oncology and reconstruction, thyroid oncology and general surgery.

2. This next-generation platform addresses key safety priorities to minimize surgical burns. The technology includes reinforced polymer material that is 100 percent non-conductive, so it won't overheat.

3. The technology also has proprietary thermally cool illumination to eliminate known thermal hazards associated with the traditional electrosurgical devices and fiber optics.

4. Eikon LT is designed to reduce fatigue as well because it's lighter than other traditional retractors. It can improve efficiency for surgeons operating in deep, dark cavities.

5. The blade's flexibility puts less tension, stress and trauma on the breast flap during breast surgery so the flap maintains viability and integrity.
