K2M commercially launches deformity spinal system in the US: 5 key notes

Spinal Tech

K2M launched the EVEREST Deformity Spinal System in the United States.

Here are five key notes:

1. K2M completed the U.S. commercial launch of the EVEREST Deformity Spinal System, an expansion of the EVEREST family products, at the Scoliosis Research Society 50th Annual Meeting. The EVEREST line also includes degenerative and minimally invasive systems.

2. EVEREST Deformity Spinal System is designed with a top-loading pedicle screw in a variety of screw types and can accommodate titanium and cobalt chrome rods in two diameters.

3. The system includes the Basecamp Deformity Rod Reducer for additional options to address difficult correction maneuvers in complex spinal pathologies.

4. The EVEREST screw set includes a modified square thread design to facilitate set screw introduction. Data shows the mixed-metal tulip minimized head splay has improved biomechanical performance when compared with the all-titanium alloy screw.

5. EVEREST Deformity is K2M's fourth differentiated complex spine technology system introduced in the past year.

"The EVEREST Deformity system offers a streamlined and comprehensive approach and adapts to each surgeon's preferred surgical technique, thereby allowing me to make the appropriate surgical decisions for my adolescent and adult patients," said Shay Bess, MD, chief of adult spinal deformity in the department of orthopedic surgery at the NYU Langone Medical Center's Hospital for Joint Disease in New York.
