Medacta achieves milestones in 2015: 5 key notes

Spinal Tech

Medacta opened its 200th learning center.

The company has experienced several milestones over the past year, including a weeklong live webcast panel of surgeons broadcast internationally and the opining of the company's 200th Anterior Minimally Invasive Surgery Learning Center.

Here are five key notes:

1. The learning center promotes the anterior minimally invasive surgical technique for total hip replacement. The benefits include shorter hospitalization and rehabilitation time and faster return to daily activities.

2. The AMIS Educational Program includes educational services for surgeons to become proficient in the technique and ongoing medical education as well as dedicated implants and instruments.

3. There have been around 170,000 AMIS procedures performed worldwide. Around 3,500 surgeons in more than 30 countries have trained in the technique.

4. Frederic Laude, MD, of France developed the first operating table specific for the anterior hip replacement technique that didn't require a capital investment from healthcare facilities in 2004. He will be available with Medacta during the weeklong educational series as a guest of honor and lecturer.

5. The company plans to continue bringing the technique to additional surgeons and hospitals throughout the United States and around the world.
