NuVasive launched the Integrated Global Alignment platform.

The new technology was launched this week. Here are five things to know:

1. The technology has a proprietary, procedurally-integrated, digital platform of products designed for surgeons to achieve more precise spinal column alignment.

2. The platform has a next generation posterior fixation, anterior and posterior implants as well as updated neuromonitoring and computer-assisted surgical planning technology.

3. As surgeons become more cognizant of the importance of preoperative measurement in sagittal balance to achieving alignment correction and good outcomes, the company feels their new platform will improve patient outcomes.

4. NuVasive is launching the technology at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons annual meeting this week.

5. The iGA platform includes ReLine, NuvaMap, Nuvaline, NuvaMap O.R. and Bendini.

"There is a growing consensus from academic and surgical communities that pelvic alignment has a profound impact on patient outcomes," said Regis Haid, MD, a neurosurgeon at Atlanta Brain and Spine Care. "Over the years, we have seen incremental improvements in various spine surgical tools, such as pedicle screws, precontoured rods and interbody implants, but the factor that has driven the greatest improvement in our understanding of patient outcomes is our realization of the crucial role that our ability to reestablish alignment plays in both early and long-term patient success."
