Vivex Biomedical acquires University of Miami Tissue Bank assets

Spinal Tech

Vivex Biomedical acquired assets and agreements of the University of Miami's Tissue Bank.

UMTB is one of the oldest tissue banks in the United States and provides human tissue and cellular products, including:

• Bone allografts
• Biomaterials
• Soft tissue products

The company's cellular products are used in spine, orthopedic, sports medicine, dental and wound care solutions. Here are three things to know about the acquisition:

1. After aligning with UMTB, Vivex will expand its existing portfolio and build a broader business in the regenerative biologics sector.

2. Vivex plans to maintain and expand upon existing distribution agreements.

3. Vivex is continuing existing operations in Miami and committed to expanding the resources available.

"As a surgeon, I could not be happier about the ally we have chosen and I believe with this alliance we will achieve new heights in the fields of tissue regeneration," said H. Thomas Temple, MD, director of the University of Miami's Tissue Bank and professor and vice chair of orthopedics at the Miller School of Medicine.
