Here are six key notes on major spine and orthopedic device companies. Warsaw, Ind.-based Biomet experienced solid growth in the second quarter of 2014 with a net income of $4.9 million, up from the $66.2 million loss the company experienced during the same period last year.

Memphis, Tenn.-based Wright Medical Group divested its OrthoRecon business to MicroPort Scientific as of Jan. 9.

Arlington, Tenn.-based MicroPort Scientific recently acquired Wright Medical Group's OrthoRecon business and established its own MicroPort Orthopedics, now the sixth largest hip and knee reconstruction company in the world.

Mazor Robotics signed an agreement with one of the largest group purchasing organizations for hospitals to provide members access to the Renaissance system and the company's portfolio of disposable products.

Globus Medical acquired Excelsius Surgical, a company developing next generation surgical robotic positioning platforms for spine, brain and therapeutic uses.

Stryker and NeuroLogica, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics America, announced an exclusive partnership agreement in which Stryker will promote and sell NeuroLogica's BodyTom portable full body CT scanner in conjunction with the Stryker NAV3i Surgical Navigation Platform.
