Here are five companies with minimally invasive spine surgery devices and technologies making a splash in the industry.

A new case series published in Journal of Spine evaluates Wenzel Spine's VariLift-LX System. The case series demonstrates the ability to perform percutaneous endoscopically assisted transforaminal decompression and fusion surgery with the VariLift-LX.

Fredericksburg-based Premier Orthopedics of Virginia spine surgeon Usman Zahir, MD, became the first surgeon in the state to perform a laminectomy using a joimax endosocopic device.

Mazor Robotics' Mazor X Surgical System is the company's core surgical assurance platform for spine surgery. By incorporating a pre-operative analytics software suite, surgeons can create a comprehensive surgical plan of the entire surgery.

Spinal Elements released its Clutch interspinous process device. The Clutch features bone opposing surfaces enhanced with Ti-Bond technology to provide immediate stability and long-term fixation.

Vertiflex, a medical device company developing minimally invasive lumbar spinal stenosis treatment solutions, appointed Ray Baker, MD, and Richard Mott to its board of directors.
