Vertiflex names Dr. Ray Baker, Richard Mott to board of directors: 5 insights

Vertiflex, a medical device company developing minimally invasive lumbar spinal stenosis treatment solutions, appointed Ray Baker, MD, and Richard Mott to its board of directors.

Here are five insights:

1. Dr. Baker currently serves as CMO of Relievant Medsystems. Throughout his career, he has advised CMS, the FDA and CDC on pain management issues.

2. He is a past president of North American Spine Society and Spine Intervention Society.

3. Dr. Baker previously served as vice president and executive medical director of Kirkland, Wash.-based EvergreenHealth Medical Group.

4. Richard Mott currently serves as a principal of Walkabout Consulting. He previously was president, CEO and director of Kyphon, a medical device company acquired by Medtronic.

5. Vertiflex recently completed a $45 million financing round for its Superion Indirect Decompression System.
