Dr. Jeffrey Coe joins OrthoNorCal, specializing in MIS spine surgery: 5 key notes

Jeffrey D. Coe, MD, joined OrthoNorCal, an orthopedic practice with roots in Los Gatos, Calif., dating back to 1992.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Dr. Coe's orthopedic spine practice focuses on minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal reconstructive surgery, disc arthroplasty and adult and pediatric deformity cases. He has a background in electrical engineering, helping him understand the biomechanical processes and logistical problem-solving for patients with spinal deformity and disease.

 

2. He earned his medical degree at St. Louis-based Washington University School of Medicine and spent 13 years in the U.S. Army. He spent three years practicing at a hospital based in Augsburg, Germany, and provided orthopedic care for the U.S. Women's Ski Team during European training sessions and the Sarajevo, Yugoslavia World Cup Games.

 

3. After returning to the U.S., Dr. Coe completed a reconstructive spine surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and spent time as the chief of spine surgery service at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam in Houston, Texas; he also spent time as chief of orthopedic surgery in Saudi Arabia and Iraq supporting Operation Desert Storm.

 

4. Dr. Coe is a fellow of the Scoliosis Research Society and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He also holds membership to the Cervical Spine Research Society and International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery.

 

5. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Coe has worked with others to publish several articles related to spine surgery and is involved in teaching spine surgeons new techniques to further advance their practice.
