Drs. John Peloza, Larry Khoo review Careventure's lumbar decompression system: 5 things to know

MIS

Carevature Medical announced its preliminary clinical results of Dreal, a spinal decompression and bone removal system, while John Peloza, MD, and Larry Khoo, MD, gave their reviews of the system.

Here are five things to know:

1. Dreal is the first curved device powerful enough to cut bone and small enough for use in all sections of the spine.

2. Initial results show Dreal to promote improved access to the foramin, as well as potential increase in foraminal volume without compromising spinal stability.

3. Dr. Peloza of Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Frisco, Texas, has performed 60 commercial lumbar and cervical procedures using Dreal. He said, "Our clinical work so far shows the Dreal system enables shorter and safer decompressions, preserving maximum healthy tissue and facilitating patient

recovery."

4. Dr. Khoo of the Spine Clinic of Los Angeles said, "In procedures where avoiding fusion or preserving segmental motion [is] a desired goal, the Dreal represents the next step in minimally-invasive decompression technology."

5. Dr. Khoo uses the system to perform lumbar compressions and noted it has allowed him to achieve more thorough decompression of the lateral recesses and foramina.
