Dr. Kube assessed long-term fusion as well as pain reduction in patients receiving Minnetonka, Minn.-based Zyga Technology's SImmetry Sacroiliac Joint Fusion.

DePuy Synthes boosts spine offering with acquisition of Interventional Spine technology
Raynham, Mass.-based DePuy Synthes acquired Interventional Spine's expandable cage technology. With this acquisition, DePuy Synthes strengthens its open and MIS spine solutions portfolio. DePuy Synthes is also acquiring Interventional Spine's facet screw system for open and percutaneous spine surgery.

Proving robotics' clinical value — The mission of Zimmer Biomet's Medtech
Splashing into robotics in 2002, Montpellier, France-based Medtech now has two robotic systems available on the U.S. market. In October 2016, Warsaw, Ind.-based Zimmer Biomet acquired Medtech with a 58.77 percent stake of the company. Now under the umbrella of a major company, Medtech hopes to expand its ROSA robot customer base, but not lose its initial mission — to drive surgical robots in areas of high clinical need.

The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare granted NuVasive approval for the instruments used in the eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion procedure. The company had submitted the dilator and associated components for reclassification as a Class III medical device and during that time surgeons temporarily stopped performing the XLIF procedure in Japan.
