Georgia neurosurgeon announces congressional campaign

John Cowan, MD, a neurosurgeon from Cartersville, Ga., has announced that he will run for the state’s 11th Congressional District seat, East Cobb News reported Feb. 10. 

The 11th District is currently represented by Rep. Barry Loudermilk, a Republican, who will not be seeking re-election. Dr. Cowan previously ran for the 14th Congressional District seat and lost to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in a runoff. 

Dr. Cowan will run as a Republican. He currently runs a private practice in Cartersville and earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
