Imaging

The global surgical imaging market is expected to reach $1.63 billion by 2022, growing at a 5.5 percent compound annual growth rate.

Here are five things to know:

1. Growing popularity of flat panel detector C-arms, analog radiography systems reimbursement cuts and increasing demand for minimally invasive surgeries will drive the market over the forecast period.

2. Image intensifier C-arms are predicted to hold the largest share of the market's technology segment. Intensifier C-arms are less expensive than flat panel detector C-arms and require less maintenance.

3. Within the application segment, orthopedic and trauma surgeries are expected to control the largest share of the market due to advantages of 3-D navigation using C-arms.

4. North America will hold the largest share of the surgical imaging market according to analysts. However, Asia Pacific will see the largest growth with a 7.1 percent compound annual growth rate throughout the projected period.

5. Key market players include GE Healthcare, Siemens, Ziehm Imaging and Koninklijke Philips.
