Question: What is the greatest piece of advice you’ve gotten during your career?
Alan Barichievich. Director of Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine and Performance at Barton Health (South Lake Tahoe, Calif.): My former boss said to me before I took over his job as director: Sometimes you will just have to make a decision; to do something is better than doing nothing at all.

Orthopedic Surgeon, Chief of Sports Medicine and Associate Professor at University of Alabama at Birmingham: The greatest piece of advice I have received during my career is to remember how privileged we are, as orthopedic surgeons, to impact patients’ lives. There are very few professions out there that can have such an immediate impact on a patient’s life. I always remain grateful and humble when treating patients.
