Zimmer Biomet’s orthobiologics acquisition: 1 year later

In February, Zimmer Biomet closed on the acquisition of orthobiologics company Embody for $155 million. Embody focuses on soft tissue healing, and its portfolio includes the Tapestry biointegrative implant for tendon healing and Tapestry RC implant for rotator cuff repair.

One year since Zimmer Biomet signed the agreement to acquire the medical device company, Embody has continued to operate, selling its patented Tapestry implants for tendon and ligament repair and arthroscopy.

However, since the acquisition, Embody has not debuted any new devices or implants on its website. The company’s CEO, Jeffrey Conroy, has remained unchanged since Zimmer Biomet’s acquisition.

Zimmer Biomet now holds Embody’s patents for the Tapestry implant, according to a 2023 update to its website.
