Study: Single-injection durolane hylauronic acid safe, effective treatment for knee osteoarthritis

Biologics

Treating knee arthritis with NASHA (durolane hyaluronic acid) is a safe and effective procedure, according to a study in Open Access Rheumatology: Research and Reviews.

The study assessed the safety and efficacy of intra-articular NASHA treatment compared to control saline injections, other hyaluronic acid products and other injectables including corticosteroids, platelet-rich plasma and mesenchymal stem cells in patients with knee osteoarthritis.

Patients reported sustained relief of knee osteoarthritis symptoms following a single NASHA injection. The researchers also observed a low incidence of treatment-related adverse events.
