Cerapedics’ lumbar spine bone graft used in 1st US patient

Sharad Rajpal, MD, performed the first U.S. case using Cerapedics’ PearlMatrix P-15 bone graft for lumbar spinal fusion since its FDA approval.

The bone graft, the first of its kind for lumbar spinal fusion, was approved by the FDA in June and is proven to accelerate bone growth, according to a July 8 news release. It is indicated for adult patients with degenerative disc disease.

Dr. Rajpal performed the first post-approval surgery at AdventHealth Avista in Louisville, Colo.
