Lipogems is an FDA-cleared technology that uses the body’s own adipose tissue to help heal injuries. “Fat has the ability to generate an excellent number of quality cells. We are able to get a large volume, and places like shoulders and knees are perfect [to receive fat cell injections] because they can take a large number of the fat cells to cushion and support the area,” said Star Ortho orthopedic surgeon Raj Sinha, MD, PhD.
The treatment is also intended to provide an alternative to cortisone injections.
