California orthopedic center adds PRP knee treatment

NorthBay Health Orthopedics in Vacaville, Calif. added platelet-rich plasma injections for knee injuries, according to a Dec. 18 announcement in the Daily Republic.

Andrew Brooks, MD, a joint replacement specialist, is the only orthopedic surgeon in Solano County to offer the treatment. PRP injections use plasma and platelets to help with healing and uses a patient’s own tissues.

Dr. Brooks recieved his medical degree from University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City and completed his residency at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
