1. Los Angeles-based FullRange Spine & Ortho began offering regenerative treatments using a patient’s own stem cells. The practice is using bone marrow aspirate concentrate, a nonsurgical procedure that takes 45-60 minutes, to treat injuries.
2. Brian Domby, MD, of Florida Medical Clinic in Brandon, started using the MACI regenerative procedure for cartilage repair.
3. Sean McMillan, DO, became the first surgeon to use the Bear anterior cruciate ligament implant in New Jersey.
4. Campbell Medical Clinic in Houston added the stromal vascular fraction procedure. VF involves drawing adipose tissue-derived stem cells and is used in orthopedic patients for conditions including chondromalacia, osteonecrosis of the femoral head and osteoarthritis.
5. The Center for Orthopedic Care in Fulton, N.Y., began offering platelet-rich plasma therapy as a nonsurgical treatment for soft tissue repair and joint degenerative pain.
