Healthgrades named the 100 best hospitals for orthopedic surgery in 2024, honoring hospitals with superior patient outcomes in back and neck surgery, spinal fusion, hip fracture treatment, hip replacement and total knee replacement. 

Five states — Idaho, Illinois, Georgia, Washington and South Carolina — are the most underserved when it comes to orthopedic care, with fewer than three orthopedic surgeons per every 100,000 residents.

While California has the most orthopedic surgeons of any state according to 2023 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, New Hampshire has the most orthopedic surgeons per capita. Idaho has the fewest. 

Atlanta-based Piedmont Orthopedics/OrthoAtlanta has opened a new location in Evans, Ga., in the Piedmont August medical office building.
