Medtech company Smith + Nephew has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire CartiHeal, a sports medicine technology startup.

Here are six spine and orthopedic medtech updates that Becker's has reported on since Nov. 14:

David Garelick, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute in Chicago. He recently shared with Becker'shis thoughts on current and future trends in orthopedics and healthcare.

Neal ElAttrache, MD, is set to perform shoulder surgery on Deshaun Watson, a quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, according to a Nov. 16 report by Sports Illustrated.

Michael Redler, MD, and Scott Sigman, MD, are two orthopedic surgeons who are part of One World Surgery, a charitable organization that provides orthopedic surgery.

North Conway, N.H.-based Memorial Hospital's orthopedics and sports medicine practice has added two orthopedic surgeons. 

Richard Cunningham, MD, is an orthopedic sports medicine physician and surgeon at Vail (Colo.) Summit Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery. He is a knee and shoulder orthopedic specialist and is also a team physician for U.S. Ski & Snowboard. 

Randolph, Vt.-based Gifford Health Care has added Douglass Weiss, MD, to its team of orthopedic surgeons.
