Daniel Elskens, MD, a neurosurgeon who allegedly performed unnecessary spine surgeries while practicing at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash., is closing his practice at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio, according to the Sandusky Register.

A Washington attorney representing dozens of spine surgery patients in a class-action lawsuit against Providence Health & Services Washington, has asked the health system to address community concerns in a town hall meeting, the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin reported July 3.

OrthoPediatrics has cemented the acquisition of Pega Medical, a device company that has developed six implants and one instrument to assist surgeons treating musculoskeletal disorders and diseases.

Raleigh, N.C.-based Compass Surgical Partners partnered with Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, S.C., and local physicians to offer ENT, spine and orthopedic procedures, including robotic joint replacements, according to a June 27 news release.
