Ten contributing authors to the report were led by Kimberly Harmon, MD, associate head team physician for the University of Washington and former AMSSM president. She stressed the importance of a close relationship between the athlete and reviewer after the concussion.
The statement provides framework for team physicians to evaluate and manage sports-related concussions and covers topics such as risk factors, neuropsychological testing, return to play and concussion legislation.
