The study collected data for 32,070 patients presenting with back pain for the first time. Researchers compared patients who saw a physical therapist within 14 days of the initial back pain with those who didn’t get therapy until 15 to 90 days after their visit.
Over an 18 month period, patients who saw the physical therapist within 14 days reported healthcare costs an average of $2,736.23 lower than those who waited.
