Dr. Schmeisser earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1953 after fulfilling his military service in Germany following the Second World War.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Schmeisser helped form a CARE Medico team for Jordanian refugees and was an innovator in artificial-limb technology, among his other accomplishments. He retired in 1991.
