Florida Concussion Law to Go Into Effect

House Bill 291, legislation designed to improve concussion safety for high school athletes in Florida, will go into effect this season, according to a St. Augustine Record report.

The bill includes several provisions, including concussion education and immediate removal of an athlete from a game if he or she is suspected to have a concussion or head injury. Athletes are also required to be evaluated by a physician in order to return to play. 
The bill unanimously passed in both the House and Senate.
