The study will look at the safety and efficacy of narcotics in managing post-surgical pain in pediatric patients. Few studies on controlling pediatric pain with narcotics exist and many physicians fear children will become addicted or overdosed. However, Paul Yost, MD, co-director of pain management at CHOC, says those outcomes are unlikely when the narcotics are managed appropriately.
