The study analyzed records from 6,106 patients who underwent the same type of posterior lumbar fusion with the same implants.
The results showed that the patient’s length of stay for one-level surgery was slightly shorter with minimally invasive surgery, 3.35 days versus 3.6. For two-level surgeries, the stay was 3.4 days versus 4.03. One-level minimally invasive surgery also cost $760 less than open surgery and two-level surgeries minimally invasive $2,105 less.
