Dr. Weichel, who was born at Beatrice Community Hospital, will primarily treat knee and hip replacements and fractures.
Originally, Dr. Weichel wanted to be a physical therapist — he majored in sports medicine and athletic training at Missouri State University — but after observing an orthopedic surgeon he changed his direction.
He just completed his residency program at the University of South Florida at Tampa Bay and will begin seeing patients July 30.
