The hospital was a founding member of a 2010 collaborative analyzing high-volume, high-cost medical procedures, including knee surgery. The collaborative aimed to improve quality while reducing costs, and its findings were published last week, showing benefits of spine surgeons working with the same team of anesthesiologists and surgical professionals.
As a result of the findings, Dartmouth-Hitchcock is considering matching knee surgeons with the same OR specialists to promote the team approach to surgery.
