Orthopedic surgeon Adil Ahmed, MD, announced on LinkedIn that he will open Houston Upper Extremity Center, an independent private practice, in early November.

Dr. Ahmed founded the practice and will be its only surgeon. He is a dual fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa, according to the practice’s website.

The practice will treat conditions from the shoulder to the fingertips, including injuries, chronic conditions and complex orthopedic cases. Treatment options will range from nonsurgical care and regenerative medicine to minimally invasive procedures and advanced surgical techniques, according to the Oct. 13 LinkedIn post.

Dr. Ahmed is opening the practice after years in academic medicine and at health systems in the U.S. and abroad, according to the practice’s website. He designed it around closer relationships with patients and surgeon involvement from the first visit through the end of recovery.

“We are very excited to launch Houston Upper Extremity Center, a private practice focused on complete management of all conditions from the shoulder to fingertip,” the practice said in a statement to Becker’s.

Houston Upper Extremity Center is accepting new patients ahead of the opening.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
