Las Vegas orthopedic practice suffers data breach

Las Vegas-based Desert Orthopaedic Center has provided notice of a data privacy incident. 

The organization learned of the breach on or about Aug. 7. An investigation determined that certain information may have been accessed or copied without authorization, according to an Oct. 6 news release from Desert Orthopaedic Center.

Information that may have been accessed includes contact information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, treatment information, Medicare and Medicaid ID numbers and health insurance information.

Desert Orthopaedic Center has five locations in Nevada, according to its website.
