Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital’s Neuro Spine Program earned Surgical Review Corp.’s first-in-the-world designation as a Center of Excellence in Neuro Spine Surgery.
Puya Alikhani, MD, director of the division of spine surgery and chief of neurosurgery at Tampa General, was also recognized as the first surgeon in the world to earn SRC’s Master Surgeon designation in Neuro Spine Surgery, according to an Oct. 6 news release.
Patrick Kim, MD, Erik Hayman, MD, and Alexander Haas, MD, were each recognized as SRC Surgeons of Excellence.
The SRC accreditation process evaluates healthcare organizations and surgical teams on areas including surgical case volume, facility resources, clinical protocols, patient education and quality improvement initiatives.
