Xenix Medical received FDA 510(k) clearance to add its NanoACTIV Surface Technology to the screw shanks of its Riva modular pedicle screw system.

NanoACTIV is a proprietary surface modification process that creates micro- and nano-scaled surface textures shown to exhibit specific osteogenic differentiation and an endogenous cellular and biochemical response, according to a Sept. 30 news release.

The technology was previously cleared on Xenix Medical’s additively manufactured, or 3D printed, titanium implants. The latest clearance extends NanoACTIV to machined wrought titanium.

The clearance completes the integration of NanoACTIV across all 5 of Xenix Medical’s spinal implant product line.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
