Scott Ellis, MD, was named president of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society.
Dr. Ellis is a foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery and a full professor of orthopedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, according to a Sept. 21 news release.
As president of the 2,600-member society, Dr. Ellis plans to focus on collaboration with orthopedic societies and federations around the world and recruitment of orthopedic residents into the foot and ankle subspecialty.
Dr. Ellis previously served as president-elect, vice president, treasurer and member-at-large on the AOFAS Board of Directors. He also served as president of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation Board of Directors.
In addition to serving as AOFAS president, Dr. Ellis will serve on the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation Board of Directors.
