Exeter (N.H.) Hospital and Portsmouth, N.H.-based Atlantic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine signed an affiliation agreement to expand orthopedic services in the region, according to a Sept. 22 Foster’s Daily Democrat report. The affiliation is expected to take effect Jan. 1, 2027.
Under the agreement, Atlantic Orthopaedics will assume responsibility for comprehensive orthopedic services at Exeter Hospital and its Plaistow, N.H., location. Hospital officials said the affiliation will expand ambulatory access in Exeter and Plaistow and provide dedicated 24/7 orthopedic trauma coverage for Exeter Hospital’s emergency department.
“By joining forces with Atlantic Orthopaedics, we will create the premier orthopedic and musculoskeletal program in the region,” said Debra Cresta, president of Exeter Hospital. She said the collaboration will also strengthen Core Physicians, Exeter Hospital’s affiliated physician group, by giving patients access to a more coordinated network of orthopedic and musculoskeletal services.
The organizations also plan to develop a comprehensive spine program offering outpatient and surgical care. Both organizations said they are developing a transition plan aimed at maintaining continuity of care and communicating changes to patients, according to the report.
