Jeffrey Reuben, MD, an orthopedic surgeon based in Texas, has disclosed a data breach affecting 17,017 current and former patients, according to a Sept. 7 report from The HIPAA Journal.
Dr. Reuben provided care to patients at NW Surgery in Houston and medical centers in Bellaire, Texas.
An investigation revealed that an unauthorized party accessed systems containing patient information between April 18 and 19, 2026.
Patient information that may have been accessed includes names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, government-issued ID numbers and financial information.
At this time, no actual or attempted misuse of the affected data has been identified, the report said.
