Surgeons at Atrium Health’s Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, N.C., completed the first clinical uses of medtech company Pulmera’s CBeam 3D Imaging Platform.
The three spine fusion procedures included two multilevel transforaminal lumbar interbody fusions and one multilevel posterior C2-C6 fusion. All implants were inserted under navigated image guidance using CBeam’s 3D images generated from traditional flat panel fluoroscopes, according to an Aug. 5 news release from Pulmera.
CBeam converts conventional 2D surgical C-arms into intraoperative 3D imaging systems, generating 3D images from a series of X-rays to support surgical navigation.
Pulmera said the milestone marked the start of the commercial launch of the CBeam platform following its recent FDA 510(k) clearance.
