The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City has been ranked as the top orthopedic hospital in the country by U.S. News & World Report for the 17th consecutive year.
The rankings for the best hospitals for 2026-27, published Aug. 4, evaluated hospitals on measures including risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience. This year’s methodology placed greater weight on risk-adjusted patient outcome measures in determining results. Read more on how the publication created the rankings here.
U.S. News & World Report evaluated nearly 1,000 orthopedic hospitals that treat patients for spinal surgeries and fusions, limb, joint and other musculoskeletal and connective tissue and orthopedic care.
