Rick Wright, MD, has been named as president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Wright, who is also chair of orthopedic surgery, chief medical officer and senior vice president for clinical affairs at Vanderbilt Health, has been a member of the AOSSM for 28 years, according to a July 30 news release from Vanderbilt Health.
As president of the AOSSM, Dr. Wright will lead the board of directors and help foster education, research, advocacy and collaboration that improve the care of athletes.
The AOSSM represents 4,200 orthopedic surgeons and other healthcare professionals who provide care for athletes and active individuals, the release said.
