The Health Care Transformation Task Force released a case study on a value-based musculoskeletal care model developed by Detroit-based Henry Ford Health, Health Alliance Plan by Henry Ford Health and Protera Health, an independent digital health company. The model improved patient outcomes while reducing healthcare costs, according to a July 16 news release.
The case study found 85% of participants achieved clinically meaningful improvements in physical health or pain scores. The model generated more than $10,000 in savings compared with usual musculoskeletal clinician care and more than $15,000 in savings compared with standard physical therapy care.
The case study is part of the Task Force’s series on value-based specialty integration and highlights the role of coordinated digital and in-person care in improving outcomes for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
