Spinal implant debuts in 1st US surgery

Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial Hospital hosted the first U.S. surgery using Signus USA’s VertaConnect spinal implant system. The procedure was performed July 3 by spinal surgeon Ngoc-Lam Nguyen, MD.

The VertaConnect system is an expandable transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion implant designed for use in traditional open and endoscopic spine procedures. The implant is intended to support spinal stability, alignment and osseointegration, according to a July 15 news release.

Signus USA is the U.S. subsidiary of Germany-based Signus Medizintechnik, a family-owned spinal implant company.
