Neurosurgery society elects new president

Bradley Weprin, MD, has been named president of the American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons for the 2026-2027 term.

Dr. Weprin is director of the division of pediatric neurosurgery at Dallas-based Children’s Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center. He also serves as vice chair of quality in UT Southwestern’s department of neurological surgery, according to a July 13 news release.

The American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons serves as the specialty’s senior professional society and focuses on standards of care, education, research and advocacy.

As president, Dr. Weprin’s priorities include recruiting the next generation of pediatric neurosurgeons, expanding leadership opportunities and increasing the society’s advocacy efforts on issues including abusive head trauma, transition of care for patients with chronic neurologic conditions and gun violence, according to the release.
