Iowa City-based University of Iowa Health Care has appointed Brian Wolf, MD, chair and department executive officer of its department of orthopedics and rehabilitation, effective immediately.

Dr. Wolf has served as the department’s interim chair and DEO since Jan. 31. During that time, he established a division structure for the department, initiated plans to integrate orthopedic services at the downtown campus and began efforts to strengthen engagement with the department’s alumni, according to a July 7 news release.

An orthopedic surgeon and head team physician for University of Iowa Athletics, Dr. Wolf previously served as the department’s vice chair of operations and strategic planning and vice chair of finance and academic affairs. He also chaired the department’s finance committee for more than a decade and helped lead strategic planning for the North Liberty campus.

As chair and DEO, Dr. Wolf will oversee all aspects of the department, represent its faculty and serve as its spokesperson within the Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa Health Care and with practitioners across Iowa and the nation.
