“What [the O-Arm] can do is give us a representation of the anatomy in multiple dimensions in real-time in the operating room,” said John Peloza, MD, spine surgeon and founder of The Center for Spine Care in Dallas. He performs spine surgery using the O-Arm technology at IMIS. “We get the most important view, the actual view of the spine which is a cross-section of the spine.”
According to Dr. Peloza, the O-Arm works well for minimally invasive surgery because surgeons do not need to make an exposure of either the musculature or spinal canal to know exactly where they are navigating. It also allows for a more precise mobilization of surgical pathology and reduces need for revision surgery.
